Military Grade FKM Rubber

BRP manufactures military specification FKM rubber that meets Mil-R-83248 Type 2 Class 1 specifications. Military specification FKM rubber is known for its heat resistance (400°F/200°C) and resistance to flame propagation, ozone and weather. Our Mil-R-83248 Type 2 Class 1 FKM rubber is highly resistant to tough aromatic fuels, petroleum oils, chlorinated solvents animal and vegetable oil.

Mil-R-83248 Type 2 Class 1 military specification FKM rubber is not recommended for applications with exposure to acids and steam. Military specification FKM rubber is attacked by highly polar fluids such as ketones, hydrazine, anhydrous ammonia and Skydrol (phosphate ester) hydraulic fluids.

BRP’s military specification FKM rubber also conforms to the stringent requirement of Westinghouse 45351HG for use in transformer sealing. Military specification FKM rubber is available in rolls and sheets in thicknesses from 1/32″ through ½”.

Military specification FKM rubber is formulated to meet the AMS 3216 specification that supercedes MIL-R-83248. This mil-spec material exhibits a higher temperature range (up to 500°F) and increased tensile strength than commercial grade FKM. Military specification FKM rubber also offers resistance to many aliphatic hydrocarbon fluids and a broad range of oils, fuels, lubricants and most mineral acids.

Due to the demanding applications required, the military enforces strict standards for all materials. BRP works continuously to produce the highest quality rubber products to meet a variety of standards based on application. We utilize the capabilities of our in-house laboratory to ensure ongoing compliance with standards. BRP’s Military specification FKM rubber is American-made in our Lima, Ohio facility.
