BRP manufactures military grade nitrile rubber that conform to Mil-R-3065, Mil-R-2765 (PRF) Mil-G-1149 (PRF) specifications. Nitrile rubber, also known as Buna-N or NBR rubber, is an economical material that provides high resistance to oils and hydrocarbon based fluids. Military grade nitrile rubber is a synthetic rubber polymer known for its superior resistance to fuels such as kerosene, diesel, lubricating oils, grease and petroleum based transmission fluids.
BRP offers military grade nitrile rubber in sheet, cloth inserted, extruded, or molded forms. It’s specifically formulated to prevent swell and sealing degradation. Military grade nitrile rubber offers resistance to compression set and maintains its mechanical properties, especially tensile, to allow for years of trouble free service when properly applied.
Military grade nitrile rubber is not recommended for antioxidant agents, chlorine and polar liquids like ketones (acetone), ethers (degreasers), and amines (certain herbicides and fungicides). It has poor weathering characteristics and is not recommended for use in environments where it can be attacked by ozone, ketones, esters, aldehydes, chlorinated and nitro hydrocarbons.
Keep in mind the higher the acrylonitrile (ACN) content, the higher the oil resistance – however the low temperature performance flexibility will be poor. As always, please review your application and chemical compatibility chart for proper selection.
